In a drama that’s quickly taken over Egyptian social media, football legend and national team coach Hossam Hassan is caught up in an ongoing legal and personal feud with his wife Danna Adam.
The situation involves mutual accusations, police reports, court cases, and a villa in Alexandria at the centre of it all.
An Old Assault Case Comes Back
The story reignited when Danna Adam was detained at Amreya Police Station in Alexandria after being questioned about an unrelated case.
While processing her release, police discovered a pending one-month prison sentence from a 2023 case filed by Hossam, in which he accused her of physically assaulting him.
She had no idea the case had gone to court, let alone that it resulted in a conviction. That’s how she ended up spending the night in custody.
A Villa Dispute Turns Ugly
Before that, Danna had visited a villa in King Mariout, which she claims belongs to her, her children, and partially to Hossam. The next day, she says she saw someone jumping over the wall, panicked, and called the police.
The surprise? That man also filed a report — this time against her — saying she tried to take over the property by force, even though he claimed to be renting it.
That triggered a new layer of legal chaos. Some reports claimed that Hossam filed a complaint accusing Danna of renting out the property without his knowledge, calling it a misuse of his money.
Others suggested he was trying to take back control of the villa, despite it being in shared ownership.
Then Came the Denial
Just as the drama reached the media, Hossam Hassan issued an official statement denying he had anything to do with the complaint. He insisted he never filed any new report, that the villa had already been legally rented out since March with a valid contract, and that he was in Cairo during the incident, not Alexandria.
The statement sounded like an attempt to de-escalate, but it also directly contradicted earlier reports and the fact that he had filed a case against Danna just last year.
Are They Still Married?
As of now, there’s no official confirmation of a divorce. In fact, the couple appeared together in April 2024 at the prosecution office in Alexandria for a previous case — a defamation and insult complaint — and signed a reconciliation agreement.
Since then, no court documents or public statements suggest that they’ve separated legally. So unless something changes soon, they’re still married.
What’s Next?
Danna Adam has been released from custody, and a court session is scheduled for July 15, 2025, to review her appeal against the one-month sentence in the 2023 assault case.
Her lawyers insist that the villa in question is mostly owned by her and her children, with Hossam owning only a quarter, and suggest the entire situation around the break-in may have been staged.
Meanwhile, the public continues to watch the story unfold like a soap opera — except this one stars Egypt’s national coach, just weeks before major football commitments.
And with both sides now trading legal accusations, things aren’t cooling down anytime soon.
