Instead of locking the action down in a single location, “Mutiny’s” story kicks off on the open sea before escalating into an all-out war against a massive international criminal network.
“Mutiny” brings a new collaboration to cinema screens, with two action powerhouses joining forces. Jason Statham revealed that working with director Jean-François Richet was one of the main reasons he joined the project.
“What I admire most about him is that he prefers to shoot as much of the action as possible practically in front of the camera rather than relying on CGI. I take my hat off to him for that.”
Producer Marc Butan revealed that the concept for “Mutiny” came from a desire to break away from traditional setups and push the protagonist towards a different set of challenges. He stated:
“We started talking about cargo ships and then built the story around that idea: How does the protagonist end up on a ship? And why is he there?”
Many of the behind-the-scenes crew of Richet’s previous film “Plane” reunite, with screenwriter J.P. Davis returning to co-write “Mutiny” alongside Lindsay Michel, as well as cinematographer Brendan Galvin and editor David Rosenbloom.
