Tunisian actress Asma Belaid wore the names of victims of violence in the Arab world at the Closing ceremony at the 32nd round of Carthage Film Festival.
The Egyptian Sara Hegazy and Shaimaa Alsabagh’s names were written amongst several other women from Sudan, Tunisia, and Iran.
“Women are dying in our patriarchal societies, and they should always be thought of,”
Asma Baleid said in a Facebook post.
She added:
“I do not want to be an artist that is isolated from reality and cannot be a feminist while I’m not spreading a message to the world that women are in solidarity with each other in every time and place.”
