In a shocking incident that took place in Masr El Gedida, specifically Salah Salem Street, today, authorities have arrested and detained a man for allegedly shooting a woman, identified as 32-year-old Shaimaa Abdel Karim.
The East Cairo Felony Prosecution has ordered a four-day detention for the suspect pending further investigations. Additionally, officials have requested a drug analysis to ascertain if narcotics influenced the assailant’s actions.
The tragic event can be traced back to when Abdel Karim was romantically involved with the suspect. Sources close to the victim shared that she chose to end the relationship after deeming the man’s behavior unsuitable and erratic. Despite her clear intentions, the suspect did not take the separation lightly, leading him to issue threats against her life.
Undeterred, Abdel Karim resumed her daily routines. But her decision would soon turn fatal as, on two separate occasions, the suspect stalked her to her workplace.
The second encounter culminated in a public shooting after a heated altercation, where the accused used a cartridge gun. The young woman died on the spot due to her injuries.
A local resident, appalled by the grim scene, pursued the fleeing assailant, subdued him, and subsequently handed him over to security forces. The suspect is currently detained at the Insurance Hospital in Nasr City, pending a comprehensive medical examination.
The New Cairo Police Department, upon receiving the report, immediately mobilized its forces. Their preliminary investigation confirmed the suspect’s act of violence, which led to Ms. Abdel Karim’s untimely demise.
Her body has been transferred to the morgue of New Cairo Hospital. The incident has been officially recorded, and investigative authorities have been notified.
In an exclusive statement to “Cairo 24“, an insider from the victim’s family unveiled a disturbing history between the deceased and her assailant.
They were engaged 12 years ago but had separated. Throughout the years, Ms. Abdel Karim had been the subject of relentless stalking by the now-accused, Mohamed Ali, a 36-year-old unemployed man.
As the investigation unfolds, the tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of unresolved relationships and the urgency of addressing domestic violence in the community.
