The first stop of the Red Bull Winds of Sinai Qualifier brought Egypt’s rising kiteboarding talents together for a high-energy showdown by the Red Sea.

On April 27, we were there when Red Bull officially launched the first edition of the Winds of Sinai Qualifier in Egypt, bringing together some of the country’s most promising kiteboarding talents in one of the Red Sea’s most iconic destinations. From the early hours of the day, the energy was clear. Riders showed up ready, the wind delivered, and the sea turned into a full stage of skill, speed, and stamina.
This felt like a community that knew exactly where it’s heading (or flying).

Makani in El Gouna became the center of it all. Riders pushed their limits with freestyle runs and technical maneuvers, while spectators watched every move up close. It wasn’t just a sports event, it felt like a shared moment between athletes, fans, and a culture that’s clearly on the rise.

Red Bull’s move to bring the Winds of Sinai Qualifier to Egypt for the first time added a new layer to the country’s watersports scene. It positioned Egypt not just as a destination with perfect wind conditions, but as a serious player in the global kiteboarding conversation.

What made the day even more powerful was how accessible it felt. This wasn’t only about professionals. It was about local talent getting a real shot, about visibility, and about building momentum for something that’s only just getting started.

By the end of the day, one thing was clear. This wasn’t a one-off event. It was the beginning of a new chapter for kiteboarding in Egypt, and El Gouna was the perfect place to write the first line.
