The Egyptian Cabinet has officially ratified new regulations governing billboards on public roads to bolster national energy conservation.

Under these strict guidelines, all billboard illumination is prohibited during daylight hours; specifically from 7 AM to 5 PM; and throughout the late-night window from midnight until 5 AM.

Exceptions are granted only to displays equipped with automated light sensors and dimming systems that reduce brightness by at least 50% based on ambient conditions. Furthermore, the mandate requires a transition to high-efficiency LED technology and energy-saving cooling systems for digital screens.

Administered by the National Agency for Road Advertisement Regulation, these measures aim to balance economic activity with resource sustainability, ensuring that the advertising sector contributes to the state’s broader mission of reducing electrical loads.
