The beloved star Donia Samir Ghanem locked in another term to champion child nutrition and girls’ empowerment across the country.
UNICEF Egypt has officially renewed its partnership with actress and singer Donia Samir Ghanem, extending her appointment as a UNICEF Egypt Ambassador. The announcement marks a major milestone: a literal decade of the star using her massive platform to go to bat for children’s rights both locally and across the region.
Since first teaming up with the organization back in 2015, Donia has consistently used her voice to tackle the heavy stuff: child protection, nutrition, and girls’ empowerment.
This next chapter keeps the momentum going with two incredibly sharp, locked-in priorities: improving child nutrition and equipping young girls with the tools, education, and spaces they need to reach their full potential.
The renewal went down at a high-level event packed with government reps, diplomats, and development partners. The absolute best part, though? Children were completely at the center of the room, hanging out with Donia and sharing the specific issues and dreams that matter most to them.
“Children’s futures are shaped not only by policies and programmes, but also by the voices that inspire people to care and act,” noted Natalia Winder Rossi, UNICEF Representative in Egypt, adding that Donia has been exactly that kind of inspiring voice for the past ten years.
Things also got incredibly real and emotional during the event. Donia couldn’t hold back tears as she addressed the crowd, dedicating a beautiful moment of gratitude to her late parents for teaching her the value of unconditional giving and giving a sweet shout-out to her daughter, Kayla, as her ultimate driving force.
Signing off on the new agreement, Donia sent a direct message to her youngest fans:
“To every child in Egypt, across our Arab region, and beyond: I am with you, and my voice will always be an echo of your voices, your dreams, and your ambitions.”
