Amany, a 19-year-old Egyptian girl, died of her injuries due to a man, Ahmed Fathy, shooting her after her family refused his marriage to her.
Local newspaper, “Al-Masry Al-Youm,” reported that the girl belonged to the village of Toukh Tanbasha, in Menoufia Governorate, and she died of a gunshot wound at the hands of a young man after attempts to rescue her failed.
The incident’s aftermath was caught on video by one of the neighbors.
There has been no official report on motives, but according to Masrawy, the victim’s family claim he never proposed to them.
This incident comes shortly after the cases of Nayera Ashraf and Salma Bahgat, who both were killed for rejecting romantic advances by their killers.
