A Cairo woman refused to be bullied—and now the sayes who tried to extort her is behind bars.
A self-proclaimed sayes (parking attendant) was sentenced to two years and three months in prison, with hard labor, after he was caught harassing and insulting a woman for refusing to pay his illegal fees. The court also placed him under two years of surveillance, reinforcing the state’s crackdown on unauthorized street practices.
How She Took Him Down
It all started when a video went viral showing the man aggressively demanding money from the woman just for parking her car in a public street. When she stood her ground, he insulted her with inappropriate language, but instead of backing down, she fought back the right way—by exposing him.
Authorities acted fast. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior tracked him down, found out he was working illegally, and arrested him on charges of bullying, extortion, and operating without a license.
A Win Against Street Harassment
This case isn’t just about one scammer—it’s about the daily harassment drivers face from unlicensed sayes. These so-called attendants operate without regulation, forcing people to pay ridiculous fees and sometimes resorting to threats.
But this woman’s bold move set an example: we don’t have to tolerate this nonsense. If someone tries to scam you, stand your ground, report them, and let the law do its job.
And while she fought back, let’s give credit where it’s due—one man in the crowd actually stood up for her, proving that not everyone just watches injustice unfold. Meanwhile, another man had the audacity to tell her she’d “gotten her likes” and should leave, as if standing up for herself was just for social media.
Oh, and a small moment of silence for AIS School, which unintentionally got dragged into this mess when the sayes showed up in their old uniform.
