Although showering alone is not the key to happiness, but it sure as hell feels good to take a moment to take care of yourself and reflect on your day.
This is why you should add a healthy shower routine so you’d make the best of the showering time for your body and soul!
Proper Skin Care Starts with a Proper Shower Routine!
You understand your body, so choose what you need to do. And just like your facial skincare routine, the perfect shower routine has some tips to help you get flawless and smooth body skin.
We’re here to share with you the proper shower routine to maintain a clean, moisturized complexion when you’re in and out of the shower!
Put your face mask on before getting into the shower
If you have dry skin, use a mask before showering and make it a part of your shower routine. Have it on before you start preparing for your shower, so by the time you start your shower, it would be the time to take it off.
This will help open the pores on the skin and allow the ingredients to be absorbed into the skin. The choice of mask depends entirely on your skin type and condition. Get a better understanding of your skin and choose the right products for your skin.
We recommend: The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask.
Infused with Community Fair Trade aloe vera, this refreshing rose extracts gel face mask glides onto your skin like a dewdrop – reviving your smooth, naturally dewy appearance in minutes. And being vegan gets it extra brownie points.
A dry brush is your shower routine’s best friend, especially if you shave!
Dry brushing is great for people with dry skin, but people with sensitive skin may want to avoid it.
Dry brushing helps to remove dead cells on the surface of the skin, increase blood circulation, and unclog skin pores. Use a long-handled soft-bristled dry brush that can help reach the back.
Start with your feet and move upwards in long, smooth strokes and circular motions. Don’t put too much pressure on the brush, instead, use gentle strokes. Make sure you do not brush specific areas for a long time. Otherwise, it will damage the health of the skin and cause irritation or bleeding.
We recommend: SOUTH FIN 2-in-1 Dry Skin Body Brush With Natural Bristles

It also can stimulate blood circulation, remove cellulite, stimulate metabolism, relieve fatigue and promote sleep, etc. Very convenient and practical.
Detangle your hair before getting into the shower
You need to detangle it all before heading to the shower to make it so your hair won’t start falling off, or get matted while you’re washing it. So make sure to properly brush your hair before you jump in.
Don’t forget to detangle your hair while conditioning it too!
We recommend: The Body Shop Detangling Comb
Effortlessly detangle wet or dry hair, with our wide tooth comb. The perfect tool for distributing product through your hair with ease
A really hot shower might feel nice, but warm water is what your body needs
We agree that super hot showers feel good, but for your skin’s sake, this is not the best idea. Hot water can damage the skin because it removes essential lipids and proteins, making it more prone to inflammation. Therefore, before entering the shower, make sure that the temperature is stable at “warm” and not very hot.
Long story short, the colder the shower, the better it is for you. So if you can’t handle cold showers, maybe aim for lukewarm water?
If your hair is damaged and you’re washing your hair, make sure you have a hot oil treatment first
We feel like, at this point, everyone knows that they shouldn’t be washing their hair daily. And if you don’t, then please don’t wash it daily. Twice a week is more than enough, or every other day tops if you have oily hair.
Now if you have damaged or dry hair, you might want to have hot oil treatments ready before you hit the shower.
All you need to do is leave our oil in a bowl of hot water while you shower, and while you’re washing your body or shaving, have the treatment on. Wash it off after 5 minutes, or how long the oil you’re using is instructed.
You can use any oil of preference, but if you’re going with natural oils, make sure they can be used as hot oils first.

Shampoo and condition your hair the right way
The right shampoo can not only remove the accumulation of grease and hair care products, but also help reduce the grease trapped in the pores.
Use sulfate-free products, which are your best choice for healthy scalp and hair, and lather before washing your body.
Put a coin-sized shampoo in your hand and apply it to your scalp along the roots.
Be sure to pay attention to the back of the ears and the nape which are usually the oiliest areas. Depending on the length of the hair, rub it for 30 to 60 seconds before rinsing.
When you rinse off, the shampoo will drip into your body, adding extra cleansing elements to your skin. But because the conditioner is the same, you need to follow up with the shower gel to ensure that any residue that may be left clogging the pores is removed.
We recommend: Cantu Sulfate-Free Cleansing Cream Shampoo
Wash your body with a pH-balanced body wash
After shampooing and conditioning, use a pH-balanced shower gel to bathe the whole body. These products are not only more convenient than bar soaps, but also tend to be more moisturizing.
Antibacterial and soaps often contain irritating and non-natural ingredients, such as parabens and phthalates, which can cause sensitive skin.
However, an excellent natural shower gel cleans and restores the pH balance of the skin without stripping the natural oils that keep the skin soft and hydrated. No need to foam from head to toe.
You only need to wipe the odorous parts. As for what to scrub, use a bean bag, it adds a gentle exfoliating element to your daily work, and it is not as irritating (or full of bacteria) like a loofah.
We know many prefere body scrubs, but we don’t recommend physical scrubs since they damage the skin.
SHAVE THE RIGHT WAY!
Regardless of how often you shave, it is important to shave in the right way. No matter how much you take care of your skin, if you shave wrong, your skin will suffer.
The best time to shave your body hair is near the end of the shower. At that time, the hair follicles will become soft.
Use a shaving cream formulated with natural ingredients such as olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, sunflower oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E. They keep your skin soft.
Always shave on the hair growth direction and use a multi-blade razor.

Wash your face with cold water as soon as your done with your shower
This is very important if your prone to skin breakouts.
After you shower, your pores open, and they can get clogged. It’s important to wash your face with cold water to close your pores.
Moisturize!
Moisturizing after showering can affect your skin, especially if your skin is dry.
This will help keep the shower moist. It has been observed that the best option is to moisturize your body while it is still wet after the shower.
You can also add body oil after hydrating to help seal moisture in the skin. Baby oil or coconut oil can solve this problem. Some options are odorless and will not interfere with other products that you have applied or intend to apply to your skin.
Honestly, moisturising is the most important part of the shower routine!
