Alexandre Farto

We caught up with Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, better known as Vhils, at the fifth edition of Forever Is Now by Art D’Égypte at the Pyramids of Giza—where art and history meet under one timeless

Vhils shared the story behind his captivating installation, inspired by the doors of Cairo.

“Doors are the architecture of intimacy,” he told us.

Each door, collected from the city’s streets and abroad, carries the marks of countless lives—memories of encounters, departures, and the quiet beauty of everyday existence etched into its weathered wood.
