The Murder of an Alexandria Engineer Full Details from the Killer’s Confessions

The murder of an Alexandria Engineer, on November 12, has been rising online recently, not just for its absolute brutality, but for the nerve-wrecking details that came out during the investigation.

The killer wasn’t a stranger. He was a close friend of the engineer from their university days, who knew his routine, the place he worked in, and even the routes he took home.

From Friendship to Hostility

According to the confessions, the relationship between the two men began to fall apart after graduation. The killer travelled to Sharm El-Sheikh in 2018 for work and spent four years there.

When he returned in 2022, he claimed he found his friend “different,” and that tension grew between them. They started drifting apart, arguments became frequent, and the victim began distancing himself from him.

By 2023, anger and tension had turned into something way darker. The suspect confessed that the idea of killing his friend had actually been there since March 2023.

The breaking point came when he edited and circulated photos of the victim’s wife, attaching her face to images of a person with Down syndrome. When the victim discovered the incident, the conflict escalated further.

Planning the Murder

The suspect explained that despite having financial stability, running a store, working in gold trading, and inheriting from his mother, he continued to obsess over his friend. He is rented an apartment in an area called Hanoville in El-Agamy just to watch the victim’s movements.

In September 2025, he bought a gun. Then he bought a car to make moving around easier. He even called the car dealership where the victim worked to confirm its closing time. This is the kind of planning that the Louvre heist didn’t even think of.

The Day He Pulled the Trigger

On the day of the murder, the suspect mentioned this:

“I prayed Asr, left the building, and drove straight to the dealership. I arrived sixteen minutes before closing time, positioned myself in a parallel street to the dealership, and waited.”

When the engineer stepped out of work, the killer approached from just a meter away and fired multiple shots until he saw him fall to the ground. Then he just drove off.

When confronted, he confessed without hesitation, saying he felt no regret:

“He had to die.”

The Security Response

The Ministry of Interior confirmed receiving a report on 12 November about a shooting in Karmouz, a nearby area in El-Agamy as well.

The victim died instantly, and the attacker fled by car. Security teams traced the vehicle, identified the suspect, an engineer from the El-Dekheila district, and arrested him soon after.

Investigators also revealed that the suspect had previously been admitted to a psychiatric facility, pointing out that this will be an important point in court.

A Tragic End to an Old Friendship

The two men had known each other since their university years. Their fallout began with online harassment and escalated when the victim informed the suspect’s father about his son’s behaviour. The father criticised him, and the suspect adopted that humiliation as the final trigger.

Despite an official reconciliation in November 2024, the resentment never faded. Instead, it turned into what you just read.

What Comes Next Legally

Under Egyptian law, premeditated murder, especially with clear planning and intent, falls under Articles 230 and 231 of the Penal Code, carrying penalties that include execution or life imprisonment.

However, if mental instability is proven, the court can consider a reduced sentence.

The suspect’s trial is soon, while the city processes this senseless crime committed not by a stranger, but by the victim’s friend.
