Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred has been sentenced to five years in prison by a French court for raping a woman in Saint-Tropez in 2018.
The singer, who maintained the encounter was ‘consensual,’ wept as the verdict was read in Draguignan and was ordered to pay €35,000 in damages and legal fees.
This ruling adds to Lamjarred’s extensive legal background in France, following a separate six-year prison sentence handed down in 2023 for a 2016 assault case, solidifying a dramatic downfall for one of the Arab world’s biggest music artists.
