This Is Happening — A Lot
In May 2025, Speak Up handled 678 escalated cases, 17 hacked accounts, and 401 cases of private or inappropriate photo sharing this month. These are real numbers, and they show how common tech-based abuse is becoming common.

Inside the cases: What the Violations looked like
Most cases reported to Speak Up involved sharing of private/inappropriate content (401), followed by defamation and harassment (147), impersonation (70), and message-based blackmail (50). AI-generated images, though rare, are also appearing (5).

Don’t Delete Anything, Screenshot Everything
Save messages, threats, usernames, and content. This is your evidence if things escalate — whether you report it to a platform, a helpline, or even legally.

Report to the Platform — It Actually Works
TikTok, Pinterest, and Snapchat had 100% resolution rates with Speak Up. Most partner platforms removed harmful content fast — some in less than a day.

If You’re Being Threatened or Blackmailed
Don’t engage. Don’t send more. Don’t pay. Instead, screenshot and report immediately. In May, 50 people reported blackmail — you are not alone, and help is available.
What If It’s on Telegram or X?
These platforms aren’t official partners — which makes removal harder, you can Email them as an option — or report them legally.
