Official prosecution records detail the accused’s testimony of events after the Maadi harassment incident and attempted theft on a public bus.
According to the investigation documents in Case No. 2014 of 2026 (Misdemeanors, Mokattam), the incident allegedly took place on February 8 at around 5:30 PM.
The accused, who works as a metalworker at the Baron BRT station, told prosecutors he had boarded a public bus to Dar El Salam when the victim began shouting “thief” and “harasser,” pointing at him.
He said he had never seen her before.
During questioning, he stated that he was standing about two meters away from the victim inside the bus. He described feeling shocked and said he chose not to respond at first.
He claimed the victim then pulled out her phone and began filming him, mentioning she’d expose and imprison him. When confronted with viral footage, he admitted it was him, saying he only “tried to cover the camera” to stop being filmed.
A key part of his testimony is his claim that “other passengers defended him.” He told investigators that people on the bus insisted he had “not approached the woman” and encouraged him not to “lose his rights.” He mentioned the man holding the prayer beads who spoke up, as well as women on the bus who allegedly said he was “physically distant” from the victim.
He also acknowledged the verbal harassment, where he said a comment about her clothing after she repeatedly referenced religion, saying he was“reacting” while defending himself.
The bus later stopped near two police officers after the victim reportedly got off and spoketothem. The accused said officers tried to board the bus, but passengers intervened and told them he had donenothing.
He later went to the police station voluntarily after being asked to give his statement, emphasizing that he “he was not arrested” and would not have turned himself in if he had committed an offense.
The case remains under review as authorities examine statements and circulating videos to determine what happened.
