Cairo International Film Festival and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Partner to Award EGP 250,000 for Films Addressing the Palestinian Cause

Cairo International Film Festival President, actor Hussein Fahmy, met with Dr. Amr El-Leithy, President of the Islamic Cooperation Broadcasting Union (ICBU), and actor Mostafa Shaaban, Advisor to the ICBU President for Artistic Affairs, at the festival’s headquarters. The meeting resulted in an agreement where the ICBU will offer financial awards totaling EGP 250,000 for the best films highlighting the humanitarian conditions and suffering of the Palestinian people amidst ongoing events.

The awards will be distributed in three categories: production, screenplay, and directing.

Hussein Fahmy welcomed this fruitful collaboration with the ICBU, emphasizing their shared vision of supporting films that portray the humanitarian struggles of the Palestinian people.

Dr. Amr El-Leithy reaffirmed the ICBU’s commitment, since its inception, to backing works that support the Palestinian cause and shed light on the suffering of its citizens. Actor Mostafa Shaaban expressed his happiness and pride in seeing the ICBU partner with a prestigious festival like the Cairo International Film Festival.

It is noteworthy that the ICBU has previously provided financial awards for significant dramatic works that advocate for the Palestinian cause at various Arab and international festivals.
