As Ramadan comes to an end, the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank – Egypt (ADIB-Egypt) Charity Foundation is closing the holy month on a high note by adopting four Egyptian women facing tough life challenges. This initiative is part of ADIB-Egypt’s “You Are the Heart of the Story” campaign, dedicated to empowering women and recognizing their invaluable role in society.

From “Street Presenter” to Life-Changing Support

The four women who are now receiving direct support were previously featured on “Street Presenter,” a show hosted by Ahmed Refaat. The campaign collaborated with the program to shed light on women struggling against the odds. In addition, ADIB-Egypt also partnered with Baheya Foundation to extend the campaign’s reach to cancer warriors, further reinforcing its commitment to supporting women in need.

Through this initiative, ADIB-Egypt Charity Foundation has pledged to provide monthly financial assistance and medical support for the selected women, emphasizing its commitment to uplifting and honoring Egyptian women, especially those facing economic hardship. This move aligns with the broader success of the “You Are the Heart of the Story” campaign, which throughout Ramadan has actively worked to support the most vulnerable women through interactive activities and charitable initiatives.

Meet the Women Receiving Support

Each of the four women has a powerful story of resilience:

  • Dolat Shaker works at a gas station to support her ailing husband, as their family has no other source of income. She is also undergoing breast cancer treatment at Baheya Hospital.
  • Saadia (Um Mohamed) earns EGP 100 daily working at a vegetable shop to support her bedridden husband, whose pension is entirely spent on his medical expenses, leaving them struggling to pay rent.
  • Hajja Hoda is a mother of six who collects garbage to make ends meet. Despite her age, she has no husband or family support.
  • Hajja Wafaa has been left as the sole provider after her husband suffered a severe accident that left him permanently disabled and unable to work.

A Tribute to Egyptian Women

With the campaign’s conclusion, ADIB-Egypt expressed deep appreciation for Egyptian women, recognizing their sacrifices and unwavering strength. The bank reaffirmed its dedication to women’s empowerment, alleviating hardships for the most vulnerable, and driving sustainable positive change in society.

This year, with International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day coinciding with Ramadan, ADIB-Egypt made the occasion even more special by launching “You Are the Heart of the Story.” The campaign also featured a podcast series highlighting four inspiring mothers who balanced their family responsibilities with their personal ambitions. Additionally, a competition encouraged the public to share heartfelt moments with their mothers, with total prizes amounting to EGP 150,000. Furthermore, the bank joined forces with Baheya Foundation to distribute Ramadan food packages specifically tailored for cancer warriors.

Through this initiative, ADIB-Egypt isn’t just offering charity; it’s changing lives and proving that when women are empowered, society as a whole thrives.
