In an exciting development at the General Assembly, the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) announced the appointment of Dr. Ahmed Shalaby, President and CEO of Tatweer Misr, as a board member for the next three years. This recognition underscores his unwavering dedication to green transformation and sustainability.
Dr. Shalaby expressed his pride in this new responsibility, emphasizing Tatweer Misr’s strong commitment to sustainability. He highlighted the company’s establishment of a specialized unit focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance reporting. Additionally, Tatweer Misr is actively working towards reducing carbon emissions by 2050, aligning with global sustainability goals.
With an impressive career spanning over 30 years in engineering consulting and real estate project management in Egypt, Dr. Shalaby brings a wealth of experience to the table. He is not only a seasoned professional but also an academic, serving as a professor at Cairo University and a former visiting professor at Cornell University.
Dr. Shalaby’s leadership roles extend beyond Tatweer Misr. He is the president of the Egyptian Real Estate Council, co-chair of the Real Estate Development Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, vice chairman of the Real Estate Export Council, a board member of the Egyptian-Emirati Business Council, and a member of the African Business Leaders Coalition (ABLC).
This appointment by the UNGC is a testament to Dr. Shalaby’s extensive contributions to the fields of sustainability and real estate. His vision and leadership will undoubtedly play a crucial role in driving forward the global sustainability agenda.
