Alexandria livestream suicide

Trigger Warning: This post contains references to suicide, self-harm, and a fatal incident that may be distressing for some readers.

Security forces responded after reports of a woman falling during an Alexandria livestream suicide from a building in the Sidi Gaber area. The scene was secured, and the body was transferred for examination.

Authorities have opened an investigation and are reviewing all available evidence, including widely circulated footage.

Reports indicate the woman was broadcasting live shortly before the incident. Viewers attempted to intervene through comments during the stream, but the video spread rapidly online afterward, intensifying public shock and debate over real-time digital responsibility. The woman also posted on Facebook, “Take care of my kids.”

Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity issued a statement addressing the incident, describing it as a deeply painful reflection of hidden suffering and warning about the social pressures that can push individuals into extreme distress. The statement also emphasized the importance of protecting family stability and addressing emotional and social vulnerability before it escalates.

Beyond the immediate case, the incident highlights how untreated emotional distress can escalate when support systems are absent or delayed. It also raises questions about how audiences and platforms respond when someone signals crisis in real time.

If someone is struggling, please take any sign of distress seriously. Stay present, avoid judgment, and encourage immediate support from trusted people or professionals.

In Egypt, support is available through the Mental Health Hotline 16328.

In emergencies, contact 123 for ambulance services or seek immediate medical help.

Please avoid the circulation of any photos, videos, or names related to the incident, as announced by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation.
