President El-Sisi accepted the resignation of the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) governor, Tarek Amer, and appointed him as a presidential advisor.
Tarek Amer was appointed as the governor of CBE in November 2015 and was reappointed for a second 4-year term from November 2019 until November 2023.
Tarek Amer has played an important role in developing and raising the performance of the Central Bank of Egypt to international levels since he was appointed to the position in 2015.
The new Central Bank of Egypt governor is not yet announced. Until then, Gamal Negm, the vice governor, will be acting as the governor.
